Apply for the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program

The application period is now open for the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program!  One Lincoln Arabic student participated in this amazing opportunity during summer 2012 (read about it in the Cardinal Times)…are you the next?

The details:

IYLEP is a four week youth leadership exchange based in the U.S. for Iraqi and American teenagers ages 15-17.  Two Oregon students will be selected to participate alongside other teen leaders from July 22-August 20, 2014.

Students begin their program with a week of team building exercises and global issue workshops at the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont. They then spend one week in one of Portland’s partner communities (for 2014 Tulsa, OK and Milwaukee, WI) living with host families and participating in experiential learning activities on leadership and activism. The participants conclude their program with a civic education week in Washington, DC. The program is FREE for all participants and covers air travel, lodging, meals, cultural activities, and program expenses.  The program aims to develop a network of young adults in Iraq and the United States who have a strong sense of civic responsibility and a willingness to promote mutual understanding between nations.

All Oregon students that will be 15-17 years old at the start of the program and with a graduation year of 2015 or later are eligible to apply.

Check the IYLEP website for more information.
