The National Security Language Initiative for Youth scholarship competition is currently underway.  NSLI-Y provides full scholarships for students to study critical-need languages in a country where that language is spoken.  Students who want to study Arabic with NSLI-Y may travel to Jordan, Morocco, or Oman for their language studies.

The program is open to US high School students between 15 and 18 (see eligibility guidelines on website); no prior language experience is necessary.

Four Lincoln high school students have won a total of five NSLI-Y scholarships (one student won two scholarships, one for Arabic and another for Persian) and have studied in Morocco and Tajikistan under the program’s auspices.

The application deadline this year is November 5th, 2013.
