Lincoln Arabic students receive QFI community service grant

Rising Lincoln juniors Elise and Amy recently won a community service grant from QFI to start a club whose members will correspond with refugees around the world and raise awareness at Lincoln about refugee issues.

As Amy explains in a blog post:

We were prepared to start our own project because of our past experiences with QFI (I was as a YASE member and Elise did an MUN trip in Qatar), in which we learned how to become more global thinkers (seeing the implications of an action across many nations) and gained the ability to see things through a world lense (being open minded to unfamiliar cultures and ideas). We have learned about how to lead projects and connect people internationally to solve a common problem – such as global warming – and how to start conversations about subjects that we are passionate about. These past experiences have also taught us to actively pursue our interests, and not be afraid to execute our plans!
