Want to spend a year abroad in a Muslim-majority country?

If so, the YES program may be right for you! From the website:

The Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is offering American high school students and recent graduates in the US 50 full scholarships for up to one academic year to live and study abroad in countries with significant Muslim populations. Scholarships cover expenses for program fees, pre-departure and arrival orientations in Washington DC, secondary health insurance, and ensure careful placement with host families that, like you, are eager to share themselves with the world.

Students may apply to study in one of nine Muslim-majority countries, three of which (Oman, Morocco, and Egypt) are Arabic-speaking.

If you’re curious about what this experience would actually be like, you can read the blogs of previous scholarship winners living in Cairo and more.

The application deadline is January 12th! To apply, you must be a high school student, a U.S. citizen, and between the ages of 15 and 18 and 1/2.
